4 Simple Ways to Save Space in Your Laundry Room

One of the most difficult rooms to organize for many homeowners is their laundry room. There just never seems to be enough space for the piles of laundry a family creates.

Today, I wanted to share a few space saving ideas for your laundry room to help keep the chaos at bay.

  1. Use ALL the space. I love seeing storage that uses space that otherwise would be wasted, like the gap in between the washer and dryer. Do a simple Google search for “narrow laundry organizer” and you’ll find tons of skinny racks and drawers to fill that little gap and add storage to your room.
  2. Baskets. What life savers. A great way to use them is to have one for colors, whites and light clothes. That way you can separate everyone’s clothing and, if you are anything like me, when you don’t finish all the laundry in one day you’ll have everything put away in a basket while it’s waiting to be washed.
  3. Baskets (part two). Another great way to use baskets is to have one for each family member’s laundry. That way, everyone can grab their basket and put their clothes away with less hassle. Those individual baskets also double as clothing hampers in each person’s room. Easy peasy.
  4. Lost socks. One really crafty organizational project I love is a place to pin lost socks. Who knows why socks always get lost, but they do. And hey, who doesn’t love an excuse to craft?!? I’ve seen everything from basic plaques with clothes pins painted with the label “Socks” to a more creative concept that boasts “free Dobby” instead of “socks” (see: Harry Potter reference) Either way, it’s a great way to store the lonely sock until its mate returns.
