How much do your closets cost?
| |
Our closets and other storage systems are all customized to meet your needs. The cost varies based on hardware selection, melamine selection of unique colors or wood tones, accessories and accent trim. Once we complete a design for you we can price the system immediately unless you have requested a lot of custom purchase items where we can’t obtain current pricing without a follow-on call to the manufacturer. In general we respond with your custom design within a business week and at that time will always have final pricing for your review.

An in-home consultancy normally requires 1 to 2 hours. During this time period, the designer will discuss Closet.Tec; show you examples of our work; review your needs and measure the space desired to house the installation. In addition, a custom drawing may be completed in 3-D to be reviewed with you and in turn priced, unless a number of special priced items are required and not available to the designer during this initial visit or the design requires additional time to be studies and completed.

| |
Yes, you may FAX or email a scanned copy of a design request and we can provide a quote. However, it is better if we have a design consultant visit your home and check the design and measurements and offer advice which will be helpful to insure all aspects of the storage system are considered. This visit is without cost or obligation.

How long after agreeing to a solution do I have to wait for the installation?
| |
The average time is 4 weeks, but Closet.Tec strives to deliver an installation within 7-10 days from the signing of your contract. If you need it sooner, we will do our best to install it sooner, assuming no unique materials or custom doors or drawer fronts are required. Home offices, wall beds and media/entertainment centers usually require the full 4 weeks from contract signing to installation due to their complexity and material requirements.

No. All Closet.Tec systems are free-standing floor unit for stability and durability. We do attach the free-standing unit to the wall to prevent any tipping over or danger of the unit falling. This allows us to use the wall, instead of backing to provide the required structural rigidity.

What kind of wood do you use?
| |
Because we custom build, we can use any wood type. But we prefer a board material that is stable and maintains its dimensions without warp or crack. We use only US manufactured industrial grade particleboard as a substrate with melamine or wood veneer. Our raised panel door and drawer fronts are thermo-foiled MDF (medium density fiberboard) substrate to prevent warping and panel separation. We do offer wood door and drawer fronts if desired for high end media and home office installations.
| |
| |
| |
Why do you use particleboard for you structure?
| |
Particleboard is a solid substrate that is dimensionally stable, does not warp, crack or peel. The surface is melamine or wood veneer usually in solid colors or wood tones. This provides a solid, easy to maintain, very stable, yet beautiful system.

| |
| |
Do you put backing on your system?
| |
Backing is not needed in our closet systems because our units are attached to the wall. If it is used it is only for aesthetic purposes since it can hide imperfections in the wall and may eliminate the need to paint the inside of the closet. Non-closet system, like offices, media and entertainment centers normally use backing to provide structural stability. If you desire backing, it is available to match your color selection or wood tone.

Why do you use custom rods and support brackets?
| |
Closet.Tec uses custom rods and support brackets for several reasons. The first is the increased rigidity of the rod, the second is the custom inset design to allow hangers to move over the rod with ease regardless of the hanger type/style, and last the custom brackets are designed for easy removal and relocation without custom tools. Our rods are available in highly polished chrome. All rods are fully adjustable to accommodate clothes of any style and length and the adjustment may be easily made by the customer at any time.

How can I determine if my drawers are custom made?
| |
Drawers come in a variety of widths, depths and lengths and all are custom made to solve your storage needs. We actually form each drawer manually and apply both compress driven nail brads and glue to insure the structure and stability of your drawer will last as long as you own the system. File drawers, for example, come completely ready to accept Pendi-Flex hanging folders in either legal or letter sizes.

Why do you use raised door and drawer fronts?
| |
Closet.Tec uses raised door and drawer fronts on all its standard designs. This provides a more pleasing appearance that more closely gives your system the “furniture look” you will be please to show off and becomes an integrated part of your home decoration. We can provide a cost reduced version of a door or drawer front by using panels of melamine that match your color selection and/or wood tone. These give the appearance of a mass production system but will somewhat reduce your installation cost. This option remains available should you desire to have this look.
